The Jivemen Reunion, Chittigong and Potter’s Clay

The Jiveman 2006 reunion came and gone. Its a celebration of basketball, food and family. How big is this thing going to get? Four guys play basketball 20 years ago and suddenly years later its like our own little festival. Next years Jiveman reunion is scheduled for July 22, 2007. What will the guys look like next year?
Wheat harvest is in full swing and it is a record crop. What can I say. It is said if you grow wheat in Chatham-Kent you should be getting 100 bu/acre. Well I might be doing something wrong. I’m pretty close but I still haven’t cracked that 100 bu/acre barrier. Maybe next year. Maybe the next field across the road. Just like that 200 bushel/acre barrier in corn, someday that wheat benchmark will fall.

In “At Issue” this week I’m looking at the nuances of being a visitor in a foreign land. I recount one of my most recent experiences in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Southeastern Bangladesh. Great picture taken from the Hillside resort. The next week insurgents took the manager hostage. Read all about it by clicking on “At Issue.”

The Podcast this week is all about carbon. It changes Thursday where you’ll hear my version of events going on in Ontario agriculture. Check it out and get “Under the Agridome” again.

I should mention my good buddy Dr. Z and the group Potter’s Clay from the Arkell Bible Chapel in Guelph. They were down and wowed the crowd at the Sunday Evening in the Park in Dresden a couple of weeks ago. Great passionate, smooth and toasty Christian music was enjoyed by all. If you want them to make an appearance in your community get in touch with me. I’ll pass it on. A few pictures of them below.
